Amber Flag Initiative

About the Pieta House Amber Flag Initiative:

The Pieta House Amber Flag Initiative recognizes the individual efforts of organizations, such as Carrowholly National School, to create a healthy, inclusive environment. An environment that aims to support mental well-being and promote support, positivity and a sense of belonging.

What we aim to achieve:

At Carrowholly National School, we have always maintained a close knit sense of community with our pupils, staff, parents, families and the wider Carrowholly and Westport communities. It is the core belief of our school to nurture the holistic development of each and every pupil. S.P.H.E and wellbeing have always influenced school life, and now, the school will even further improve this sense of wellbeing, belonging and support by hopefully being awarded the Amber Flag in 2024.

Our plans are varied in what this enhancement of wellbeing will entail. From aesthetically improving our school yard space, to organizing a school library, to carrying out monthly wellness based themes in our classes, and to empowering the school community with the skills to build their mental wellbeing - we have high hopes for the infectious positivity that this will spread through our school, and through our school community.

Please be sure to check in regularly on our website for upcoming events, news and to follow our journey to bringing our plans to fruition.
