🎡🎢☘️ Irish Dancing Lessons ☘️🎢🎡

28th Jan 2024
Our second term of Irish dancing lessons with Bernadine has started.

Irish dancing is one of the many activities in our school. Junior infants - 6th class are taught by Bernadine Cresham on Thursdays. Bernadine has been teaching irish dancing for a long time in our school, and she is a great teacher. The first thing anyone is taught is a jump-two-three. This step is probably in every dance. The next thing you learn is the circle. This is eight jump-two-threes in a circle. After this, you start learning your first dance, easy reel. This consists of the circle, hops, hop-two-threes, and plenty of jump-two-threes. Once you have finished learning this dance, you will try dancing with music. It might be hard keeping in time with the music at first, but it soon gets easier. The next dances progressively get harder. There are three levels of irish dancing: Bungrád - bottom grade Túsgrád - first grade Meángrád - middle grade   Everyone is on a different level in school. It is lots of fun and great excersize. All my friends love irish dancing just like me! We help each other outside at breaktime. We can't wait till next Thursday!   Elise Mcgreal (Carrowholly Website Comittee)
